How to edit EPUB metadata
- Choose your EPUB file or drag it onto the box above.
- Edit any field: title, authors, series, language, publisher, date, identifier, subjects or description.
- Optionally replace the cover with a JPEG or PNG image.
- Click Download edited EPUB. You get a new copy; your original file is not touched.
Your file stays on your device
The editor runs entirely in your browser. Your EPUB is opened, edited and rebuilt on your own computer or phone, and nothing is uploaded to a server. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
What gets changed
Only the book's package file (content.opf) and, if you replace it, the cover image. The text, images and styles of your book stay exactly as they were. Series information is written both as EPUB 3 collection metadata and as the calibre series fields that many reading apps use.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with EPUB 2 and EPUB 3?
Yes. The editor detects the version and writes metadata in the right format for each.
Can I edit books I bought on Kindle, Kobo or Apple Books?
Not if they are DRM-protected. This tool only works with DRM-free EPUB files, such as books you wrote, public-domain books or files sold without DRM.
Why does my e-reader still show the old title or cover?
Most reading apps cache their library. Delete the old copy from the device or app, then add the edited file again.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on the number of files.
